About this event

  • 3 hours

In preparation for the DNR led controlled burn of the game area, we will build multiple brush piles just outside of the burn boundary using brush that we have cleared from a historical oak savanna opening. Brush piles are essential for critters such as rabbits, birds, snakes, rabbits, salamanders and more. We will have our trained crew equipped with a chainsaw and other tools to pare branches down into manageable sizes for volunteers to carry to the piles.

Please wear good hiking footwear and tear resistant clothes (would also recommend against wearing puffer jackets and choose denim or Carhardt instead). We will be hiking about 0.75-1.0 miles into the game area to our focus oak savanna opening .Stay for an hour or the entire morning. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

Meet at the Dursum parking lot @ 9am, we will hike back together as a group; 43.03565, -85.49035.
