About this event

Two-day in-person workshop by Charlotte Rodenberg (Print Media Faculty at VCUarts Qatar)

  • 7th March & 8th March 2022, 9 AM – 12 PM
  • Room 277 & 268
  • Upon Registration Only

A major concern of many contemporary printmakers is the toxicity of existing printmaking materials and processes. The technological advancement of Solarplate Copper Plates provides an eco-friendly alternative to the chemical acids used in traditional copperplate etching. The low toxicity and ease of use make these light-sensitive polymer-coated copper plates ideal for beginning printmakers. This workshop will demonstrate the etching process from start to finish in a prerecorded video. The instructor will present a visual overview of Print Media History and discuss the importance of print as a creative medium. Participants can use photos, photocopy transparency, or hand-drawn images to create their matrix designs before exposing and printing.

Participants are required to bring a digital or printed photo of a person, place, or thing that is special to them. If they prefer, they can also bring an actual object.

This event is an in-person event for the VCUarts Qatar community only.
