Crowning one of Nashville’s tallest peaks, Vanderbilt University's Dyer Observatory is a Tennessee treasure. Surrounded by scenic Radnor Lake State Park and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Dyer’s telescopes have pointed toward the sky since 1953.

Prepare for the April 8 solar eclipse with eclipse glasses, info, and take a look through our solar telescope. Parking pass required.

Explore the observatory, ask astronomers and staff questions, and take peeks through our solar telescope for a live view of the Sun and our historic Seyfert Telescope to see a distant star. We will also have free eclipse glasses and essential information to ensure a safe and awe-inspiring experience on Monday, April 8.This is a FREE event, but you must register for a parking time slot so we don't get overcrowded. EACH PERSON IN YOUR GROUP NEEDS A TICKET.You may arrive anytime during your ticketed time, but please complete your visit before or when your ticketing time ends. We have very limited parking and need to clear the parking area for the next group.If your plans change and you cannot attend, please release your tickets for others to use. Tickets may open up at any time if current ticket holders cancel their orders. Please check this ticketing page from time to time.IF YOU ONLY WISH TO DRIVE THROUGH TO GET ECLIPSE GLASSES (NOT PARK) YOU DO NOT NEED TO REGISTER FOR THIS EVENT.
