Why: This work helps eliminate food from the landfill and creates custom compost that is from local plants like natives, fruits and veggies and tree trimmings. All that comes together to create beautiful fertilizer.

Who: Seeds of Hope is a ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles that seeks to Cultivate Wellness in our community. We provide garden-based nutrition education and practical cooking instruction to help our friends and neighbors live healthier. We also work with congregations, communities, and schools to transform unused land into productive, lovely gardens and orchards to provide fresh and nutritious food in areas of need across the six-county diocese.

What to Expect: Every week we take in food waste from community members and local businesses and mix it with yard waste and mulch to create compost (usable fertilizer). Feel free to bring your own counter-top kitchen scraps (not incl. bones) to add to our compost bins, or bring a small container to take home finished compost!

What's Required: Closed-toed shoes and the willingness to get dirty!
