The curators of the show will talk with Cuban artist and founder of the Mujercitos, Claudia Patricia Pérez from Havana. The conversation will explore the thematics of the Mujercitos project (youth, vitalism, parody, gesture, and counter-culture), and will interrogate the artistic practices and visual vocabularies of the new generation of Cuban visual artists. The conversation will also draw on the work of Pérez as illustrator and designer that will feature in the show. **7/10 | 4:00pm (EST) — Screening of documentary Rumba en clave blen blen with director Aristides Falcon Paradi. This documentary traces the itinerancies of the Cuban rumba in New York from the 1940s to the present music scene in the city. Aristides Falcón’s documentary brings to life the history of one of the central Cuban modern rhythms along with the unfolding plasticity of its development in New York. The screening of the documentary will include a Q&amp;A session with the director. **7/11 | 4:00pm (EST) — Roundtable on “Counterculture, artistic practices and the limits of militancy”, with Carlos A. Aguilera, Román Gutierrez, Juan Miguel Pozo, Elena V Molina and Gerardo Muñoz. This closing roundtable discussion with writer and critic Carlos A. Aguilera, contemporary novelist Román Gutierrez, painter Juan Miguel Pozo, and curators Gerardo Muñoz and Elena V. Molina will discuss the inscription of the Mujercitos collective within the current debates around the relations between politics, artistic practices, counter-culture, autonomy, and the limits of political militancy in contemporary Cuba. The panel will also explore the ingredients that make up the novel gestures of the Mujercitos collective in the Cuban scene.
