Ogallala Commons, a nonprofit education and leadership organization (www.ogallalacommons.org), is collaborating with the Small Business Development Center at Clovis Community College and other civic organizations in Curry & Roosevelt counties to conduct the 2-day Eastern New Mexico Local Food Summit on May 22-23rd at Clovis Community College Main Building, Room #101, 417 Schepps Blvd., Clovis, NM from 10:30am-4:00pm (May 22nd) and 8:30am-2:00pm (May 23rd).
“Our summit will offer attendees a journey of discovery and connection,” notes Berlin Arellano, Ogallala Commons Regional Coordinator, “The sessions will energize a vibrant community of food producers and crafters in Curry & Roosevelt counties and beyond. This event is your gateway to a season of success, offering a treasure trove of information, innovative ideas, and boundless inspiration.”
Speakers will present on topics such as: “Getting Started in Food Production”, “Connecting Fresh Food to Health,” and “New Ways to Market Local Meat” plus “Financial tools for Sustaining Your Business” on May 22nd. There is an early morning start for Day Two session, with a panel presentation on “Options for Diversifying Your Markets” followed by a Field Tour to MTA Farms and the Veggie Shack. After a catered lunch, the event will wrap up with a round-table discussion on Groundwater in eastern New Mexico, and a closing presentation on building soil health.
