Early Edge California and New Teacher Center are proud to present a series of Professional Development Webinars for Early Learning Professionals working with children ages 3-5 in California.

Each two-hour, synchronous, interactive webinar in the series will focus on different aspects of play-related learning:

Wednesday, October 9, 2019, 3:00PM-5:00PM PST - Session 1: Fundamentals of Play

• Define learning through play and understand its importance
• Understand and identify the various stages and types of play
• Advocate for play as an essential role in the early learning classrooms
• Explore the implications for dual language learners as they relate to the fundamentals of play

Wednesday, November 6, 2019, 3:00PM-5:00PM PST - Session 2: Learning Language and Literacy Through Play: Teacher Role

• Identify key language and literacy components to promote through play
• Explore the teacher’s role in supporting literacy and language through play with all children including dual language learners
• Develop a plan to support literacy through play in classroom

Wednesday, December 11, 2019, 3:00PM-5:00PM PST - Session 3: Social and Emotional Learning through Play

• Review Social and Emotional Learning Core Competencies
• Explore how children develop Social and Emotional skills through play
• Discuss the teacher’s role in supporting social and emotional development during play for all children including dual language learners

Participants can register for individual sessions or for the complete series.

The Zoom webinar link for each session will be sent to participants 3 days in advance of each session via the email address provided at registration.

Thanks to our partnership with Cal Poly Pomona, we will be offering 1 Continuing Education Unit (CEU), the equivalent of 10 hours of professional development, for participants who complete the entire 3-series webinar and complete the associated written assignments.
