Dying Earth
Twenty years ago, the world ended in ten minutes. There were no wars. No foreign invasions. No warning signs that humanity was on the brink of extinction. The world was at peace. Then every television screen and radio station cut to static. A strange symbol appeared alongside a message from an organization nobody had ever heard of before: "Get to your basements and storm shelters immediately. Take your loved ones. Take supplies. Do not go outside." People laughed. Some panicked. Most froze in confusion. Ten minutes later, the skies burned. Massive clouds rose over the horizon like blackened mushrooms. Cities vanished in fire. Skyscrapers collapsed into ash. Some people were burned so completely that only shadows remained where they stood. Those who listened survived. Those who didn’t were erased with the old world.
The years underground were brutal. Food ran out. Medicine disappeared. The shelters became prisons filled with fear, starvation, and desperation. Slowly settlements stopped responding to their radios, losing their fight with the new world. But eventually the supplies dried up, and humanity was forced back to the surface. Now it is the year 2046. The survivors have emerged into a world twisted by time, radiation, and violence. Nature has reclaimed entire cities. Roads lead nowhere. Every ruin hides scavengers, killers, or something worse. And across the East Coast, a new horror spreads.
The Mist. A creeping wall of unnatural fog swallowing everything in its path. Those taken by it are never seen again. Some survivors claim they hear screaming from inside it. Others swear they’ve seen shapes moving through the fog that no longer look human. Whatever is in there needs to be avoided at all cost.
As fear spreads, powerful factions rise from the ashes of civilization.
- The Survivalist — once dismissed as a paranoid lunatic before the bombs fell — now builds bunkers and fortified strongholds for those willing to prepare for what’s coming. He believes survival is the only thing that matters now.
- The Scientist — a representative of the Atlas Reclamation Corps (ARC) — seeks to study The Mist and uncover the truth behind it before humanity loses what little future it has left.
- The Cultist — a fanatic preacher who believes The Mist is divine judgment sent to cleanse the Earth of sinners. To fear it is weakness. To embrace it is salvation.
All three factions have converged on the ruins of Roanoke, Virginia.
Here, survivors gamble away their fortunes at The Burning Ash Casino. They gather at The Forgotten Oasis to trade supplies, share rumors, drown their grief, and forget — even if only for a night — the nightmare the world has become.
But hope is fading.
Supplies are running low. Tensions are rising. The Mist is getting closer.
And when it finally arrives…
not everyone will survive.
