WHAT IS RUCKING?

A ruck is a long walk/run with a pack or weight vest. By definition, it’s getting from point A to point B with your gear in a pack. Rucking has its roots in the military and is a great way to train our bodies for both endurance and strength.

WHAT IS CONSIDERED A RUCKSACK?

Accepted Answer

Anything that adds weight to your body can be used like a backpack or weight vest. You can use weights, water, gear, sand, really anything that holds it’s shape in a pack or vest! For the purposes of our meet ups, feel free to bring your kids in a stroller or even carry them on your backs!

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF A RUCK?

Rucking is a great way to add resistance to endurance. This means when walking or jogging, adding extra weight to your body to challenge yourself. Most notably, it increases heart rate without increasing speed or distance. It also activates your core since you are carrying additional weight.

WHY A RUCK CLUB?

Accepted Answer

Traditional running groups are great ways to meet people but when the run starts, everyone is going at a different pace and rarely do you get to interact with the group as a whole. With rucking, we all move relatively at the same pace, improving connections during the activity.

Question 5

I DON’T HAVE A RUCKSACK, WHAT DO I DO?

Accepted Answer

No problem! Just fill a backpack with bottles of water or even a couple small dumbbells! You don’t have to spend money on a fancy pack (yet!).

WHAT SHOES DO I WEAR?

Any shoes you would run or train in will be just fine!
