Durham County Council Biodiversity SPD Consultation

The Biodiversity Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) provides guidance to improve biodiversity delivery within new developments. It sets out County Durham’s ecological importance, what biodiversity net gain and the nature recovery network are and how to build biodiversity into developments. The council declared an ecological emergency in April 2022 and the Biodiversity SPD is a key action in the council's Ecological Emergency Action Plan.
