About this event

  • 2 hours

Come along to the DSPCA in Rathfarnham and find out more about all the volunteer opportunities we have and see the work that we do!

We look forward to meeting you and sharing the wonderful volunteer opportunities the shelter has to offer.

Important information:

  • Our location - Mount Venus Road, Rathfarnham, D16 F9C4
  • There is no public transport to the shelter. You must have your own transport.
  • PARKING - When you arrive in the main DSPCA gate take the immediate right up the small hill. This is where you can park.
  • Strictly NO SMOKING at any time on the premises.
  • The talk will take place in our Education Cabin. You can walk to this from the car park. The Education cabin is located behind Village Vets, we will be there to welcome you.
  • P lease arrive 15 minutes early to check in.
  • Everyone attending must be over 18 years.
  • Please do not bring pets or children with you to this event.
  • Dress for the weather as there will be a short tour around the shelter.
  • This information day is to give you an insight of what our volunteers do and how important they are to the shelter. (It does not cover TY students or work experience). The work in the shelter can be very physical demands a lot of attention. There is a trial and training involved and the ability to work independently is essential.
  • We have a wonderful onsite café called 'Ruff Café'. It is located beside the dog rehoming centre and you can buy a tasty coffee and a treat when the event is finished.
  • Due to the very high demand for these events, we do ask for a donation towards the costs including light, heat, staff etc., as little or as much as you wish. Unfortunately, in the past when we run free events, we experience a high level of no shows.
  • I f you become a volunteer working directly with the animals you will need a tetanus.
  • Do not touch animals on the tour, thank you.

Looking forward to meeting you all.
