Drone Operation and Drone Data Analysis

The National Geospatial Technology Center of Excellence (“GeoTech Center”) is a collaborative effort between 2-year colleges, universities, and industry to assist in the expansion of a well-qualified geospatial technology workforce. Center partners work together to provide professional development opportunities, curriculum resources (for both educators and students), document career pathways, and research core competencies for the new and incumbent geospatial technology workforce. The Center has served as the national, unifying voice and support system for 2-year colleges, and is recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor as a leader in supporting geospatial technology education.

National Geospatial Technology Center of Excellence

This program will cover the basic principles of drone operation and drone data analysis.​ Specific hands-on activities will introduce participants to index calculation (e.g. NDVI), unsupervised classification, and LiDAR analysis using sample drone data.​​ Presented by: Wing Cheung PhD, GISP Professor of Geography and GIS, Assistant Director of National Geospatial Center of Excellence, Department Chair of Earth, Space and Environmental Sciences, Palomar College, San Marcos, CA. 
Stipends will be available for two-year college educators only. For more information about the workshops or the stipend please contact jf-geotech@kctcs.edu. *Lunch will be provided. More details may be posted on this page as it becomes available.
