Drawing for Beginners

Located in the heart of Main Street South, studio 127 is a warm and inviting working art studio that inspires creativity through classes and a carefully curated assortment of creative supplies. Monica Yother, professional artist, graphic designer and avid art journaler, is your creative guide with a mission to help people discover, nurture and grow their own creativity.

Studio 127

This is a  4 week class focused on drawing basics and techniques. Ages 12 and up.

Studio 127 - a conservatory for creativity

Each week we will build foundational drawing skills while learning best practices for tools and materials. Using graphite and charcoal, students will learn how to use lines, shading and create volume and depth. Part of the class will be spent working on a full drawing using the techniques as they are learned.<ul><li>Sept 7- Papers, pencils and charcoal intro. How to fit the right tool to the job.</li><li>Sept 14 - Shading using hatching and blending. Understand values.</li><li>Sept 21 - Adding texture and detail. How much is too much.</li><li>Sept 28 - How to add depth, and highlights.</li></ul>P lease bring an 8.5x11 black and white print of something simple you would like to draw. Suggestions: an object, something from nature, an animal. Pick something you care about or that interests you. We'll be working on the drawing of this print each week.I keep the class small so you get as much out of the class as possible.
