Learn advanced creative coding techniques with ThreeJS, WebGL, and GLSL in this one day workshop at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in Toronto.Participants will learn how to create real-time visuals, interactive experiences, and generative art projects with ThreeJS, JavaScript, and the web platform. The completed projects can be displayed on the web, in print media, and in physical installations.About the Instructor<a href="https://mattdesl.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Matt DesLauriers</a> is a Toronto-born artist and creative coder now living in London, UK.His interactive installations have been displayed in special events at the Louvre Museum in Paris and the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto. His work was part of Reykjavik’s 2019 Winter Lights Festival in Iceland and Ontario Place Park’s 2018 Winter Light Exhibition in Toronto.Matt is active in the open source community and has given numerous talks and workshops on creative coding at venues such as FITC in Toronto and Amsterdam, Frontend Masters in Minneapolis, GROW in Paris, and Nodeschool in Toronto.Schedule<ul><li>9 AM to 10 AM — reception and breakfast</li><li>10 AM to 12 PM — intro to generative art and the tools</li><li>12 PM to 1 PM — catered lunch</li><li>1 PM to 2:30 PM — 3D graphics, animations, and interactivity</li><li>2:30 PM to 4 PM — GLSL shaders and custom ThreeJS geometry</li><li>4 PM to 5 PM — open hacking and group coding</li><li>5 PM on — post coding mixer at TBD location</li></ul>What You'll GetThe skills you'll learn here can be applied to many fields, including AR/VR, game development, experiential websites, interactive installations, VJing, generative art, and various creative projects.You'll learn how to create an interactive web artwork, but also how to export your ThreeJS code for high-resolution prints, GIF and MP4 loops, permanent media art installations with Electron, and more.Who This Workshop is ForThis workshop is for developers who already know JavaScript and ES6, but want to explore creative coding and graphics programming using WebGL, ThreeJS and GLSL. You don't need to have any experience with graphics programming, but you will need to know the basics of frontend coding and HTML/CSS, and how to use the terminal and npm to install third-party libraries.
