Draw Bugs!
Overview
Love ‘em or hate ‘em, bugs play an important role in our ecosystem and built environments. Plus, they are super fun to draw and make great subjects for your next art piece!
In this two-hour in-person workshop, join RJ (an avid bug enthusiast) and real (dead) specimens to learn about insect anatomy. Learn tricks to be able to draw bugs quickly—even when you don’t have a reference. Gain an overview of the different orders of insects, details to watch for, and how to color your bugs. Whether you want to draw scientifically accurate bugs, or you are interested in creating more stylized art, this class is for you! Attendees will create their own entomology guide and come away with a greater appreciation for the role these animals play.
All supplies are provided. All ages are welcome, though students under the age of 12 should have a ticketed adult with them.
RJ Jordan (she/any) is a speculative author and artist telling stories about the natural world and exploring alien ones. She is a watercolor artist, illustrator, science writer, and experimenter. In her free time she draws bugs, cuddles her cats, gardens, and makes weird stuff. See more and connect at carapaceillustration.com.
