10:00am- Tour of Professional Theatre *Registration will be available here at 9:45am to 10:00am
11:00 - 12:00- Travel downtown to NYFA *Registation will be available here starting at 11:30am
12:15 - 1:45- MASTER CLASS FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS: ACTING ON CAMERA: TRANSITIONING ACTORS FROM STAGE TO SCREEN
This workshop will focus on the primary differences between directing actors for the stage and the screen, and will provide some key techniques to address and combat the physiological impact on actors while they learn how to transition to on-camera performance. Be ready to learn how to use film work in your classes. Attendees will leave with sample lesson plans and other helpful handouts. Selected participants will get up and act on camera!

2:00 - 3:30- Workshop #1
Workshop #1 Options: HB Studio - This workshop examines the basic elements of the Hagen Technique: its relationship to Meisner, Strasberg, Stanislavsky and its fundamental exploration of the dance between inner and outer objects. This includes how the focus on presence and awareness expands ones’ sense of self in relation to an array of possible circumstances. Several foundational exercises will be studied and demonstrated as vehicles for self discovery.  An understanding of the process will be explored and examined.
Poetry Out Loud- NYS Poetry Out Loud (POL) Manager Dave Johnson will lead this session in which participants will learn how to promote students’ engagement with dramatic language arts by poetry writing to the national POL recitation competition. Showcasing a program model developed by Teachers &amp; Writers Collaborative, Johnson will discuss how involving students in close reading of selections from the POL anthology, and then asking them to write and recite their own poems in response, results in deeper understanding of the original dramatic text, increased motivation to write, and improved performance. Workshop participants will leave the session with new teaching strategies and with poems they have written and performed.

3:45 - 5:15- Workshop #2
Workshop #2 Options: CO/LAB Theater Group- CO/LAB Theater Group is a NYC based non profit dedicated to providing individuals with developmental disabilities a creative and social outlet through theater arts.  Join them for a training session on best practices on working with individuals with developmental disabilities through the lens of theater arts.  This will be an interactive training session in the style of a traditional CO/LAB class with an added element of reflecting on strategies of positively and effectively working with individuals with developmental disabilities.   Get ready, the session will begin with a dance party. 
Updates on the Strategic Plan for The Arts- Get the latest updates! Hear about the NYS Strategic Plan for the Arts and the progress on the Alternative Arts Pathway. Explore the proposed new Theatre Standards through hand’s on strategies for curriculum development. Learn about the current Arts Initiatives in New York State.Get ready to re-energize your classroom!!

Do I get to choose what workshops I take?
Yes! When you check in the day of the event, we will have you select what workshops you will take in each workshop time slot. Heads up: first come first serve
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
NYC is a city for public transportation! We highly recommend not driving.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Nope!
What is the refund policy?
Full refunds are given up to two weeks prior to the event. One week to the day of the event will recieve a 50% partial refund.
