Doris Kearns Goodwin: From Bully Pulpit to Twitter Feed (UChicago ID Only)
Event Information
Description
(UChicago ID only) Join the IOP as we welcome presidential historian, Pulitzer Prize-winning author, and member of the Institute’s Board of Advisors Doris Kearns Goodwin back to campus for a conversation on her new book, Leadership: In Turbulent Times. Drawing on her studies of four American presidents – Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Lyndon B. Johnson – Goodwin traces how each cultivated the qualities of leadership necessary to meet the challenges of their times. Does a leader make the times, or do the times make a leader?
Doris Kearns Goodwin is the author of seven bestselling books on presidential history, which have won awards such as the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence, the Lincoln Prize, and the Pulitzer Prize in history.
This conversation will be moderated by Institute Director David Axelrod.
Lunch will be served. Book sales and signing to follow.
