About this event

  • 1 hour 30 minutes

Explore the therapeutic connection between art-making and self-care, drawing inspiration from acclaimed artists like Yayoi Kusama, Damien Hirst, Ellsworth Kelly, Louise Bourgeois and Takashi Murakami. Discover how each one of these artists have harnessed the power of dots for emotional expression, well-being and joy.

We will engage in hands-on experiences with both known and unique dot techniques to help foster stress relief and self-expression. Making dots can be artful, meditative and fun while also informing your current art and/or journaling practice.

This workshop will provide a platform for art appreciation, celebration and empowerment through joyous exploration to help you discover unique practices to add to your self-care routine. There’s no right or wrong way to do this workshop!

Group sharing and discussion is always a part of the live workshop–if you join live you are welcome to be part of the discussion and meet other like-minded artists from across the country and across the globe.

Expect fun and engaging exercises, captivating themes and fascinating histories designed to inform and inspire your own everyday artistic practice.

No drawing or doodling experience is necessary! The focus will be on guided exercises and contemplative practices inspired by the world dots and dot-centric artists.

FAQ's

How do I attend this workshop?

Book your ticket by choosing either to attend the event live or to receive a recording only. On the day of the event, log into Eventbrite using the same email you booked the ticket with.

If you are attending the event live, go to the Online Event Page. One half hour before the start time, you will see a JOIN button that will take you to Zoom where you will be able to participate in the live event.

Why are there two types of tickets?

Some people like to participate live and others who cannot attend would like to view a recording. Both ticket options receive a recording of the event afterwards. (That way if you cannot attend the live event at the last minute, you will still receive the recording.)

What is PAY-WHAT-YOU-CAN?

Make your own decision about what you are comfortable paying and what you can afford. Suggested donation is $20.

How do I join on the day of the event?

Look for a confirmation email. Click VIEW THE EVENT. Log into Eventbrite using the same email you booked your ticket with. Go to the ONLINE EVENT PAGE. Click ACCESS THE EVENT.

Give yourself plenty of time to sign into Eventbrite.

The link to join will be live one half hour before the event.

What if I have trouble joining the event?

If you have done the above and still cannot join the event, email me: courtneycurates@gmail.com.

While most people are able to join following the steps above, on occasion it is difficult for some. I will do my best to help you, but know that generally it will be tough for me to respond to emails just before or at the start time.

If you cannot sign in, or you cannot attend at the last minute, don't worry. You will automatically receive a recording of the event so you won't miss out.

What is your refund policy?

All refund requests can only be processed via Eventbrite before the event start time. Please login to your Eventbrite where you will be required to state a reason for your refund.

When will I receive my recording?

The recording will be sent out after the event finishes, within 2 hours of the end of the class. Please add me, courtneycurates@gmail.com to your email contacts list to ensure you receive the recording as expected so that it doesn't go to your spam or junkmail. You can view the recording multiple times within 14 days.

Thanks so much!

Much love,

Courtney
