Due to generous donations, Domino Foundation is now able to offer the TRA Retreat for adult interracial adoptees at no cost, based on need. We have also implemented "pay-as-you-can" pricing so that all who can benefit from the retreat are able to attend. Ticket info below.

Why Domino TRA Retreat?

Even though it is often said, "adoption is about love," it begins with trauma and is defined by deep questions about identity and family. As an interracial/transracial adult adoptee, you may have faced social, racial, and mental health challenges unique to your background and story. Domino Foundation's Transracial Adoptee (TRA) Retreat provides you the opportunity to connect with interracial adoptee peers and mentors like you. Find healing and learning within this supportive community, learn more about who you are, and how to best navigate both your birth and adoptive family relationships.

Domino TRA Retreat features Focal Point adult adoptee mentors of color who will spend the camp teaching, interacting, conversing, and supporting retreat attendees. Stormey Nielsen and Brandon Williams are true peers who grew up brown, black and adopted in a very white world. As trained therapists and adult interracial adoptees, they professionally support interracially adopted children, parents, families, and adults.

The retreat also features self-care expert Raven Ray who will guide us daily with mindfulness exercises and yoga experiences, designed to heal and build the skills of personal healing.

Domino TRA Retreat takes place at the beautiful and healing Maple Grove Hot Springs. Take advantage of the soaking pools, the Bear River, and the nature that surrounds the camp to connect, reflect, and build trusted relationships with your peers. Each day features good food at every meal, activities in and out of the water, crafts, play, and collective time where we find Safety in Connection!

Tickets for Domino Camp

Due to generous donations, the Domino TRA Retreat is available at little or no cost to all attendees. You can either "pay what you can" or sign up for a scholarship that covers the full cost of the retreat. Due to the low-cost nature of the Retreat, all lodging is shared with one other attendee, unless specifically requested and solo lodging remains available.

Purchase tickets here for the Domino Foundation TRA Retreat at Maple Grove Hot Springs, July 14-16, 2024:

1 . Sign up for either a "pay-as-you-can" or scholarship attendance ticket. The attendance ticket covers all meals, mentors, and activities. An attendance ticket is required for all attendees, regardless of lodging selection or just coming for the day.

2. Answer the questions about your personal and lodging needs. Lodging is assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis with rooms assigned based on ticket purchase. Contact us for day-only options.

You can also choose to sponsor another TRA's attendance by donating $250 to sponsor an attendee at the Domino TRA Retreat. Domino thanks you for your generosity!

Domino TRA Retreat is about building the skills you may need to heal inner anxieties and doubts, empowering yourself to address racial issues, and how to stand strong each and every day. As a multiracial/transracial adoption community, we are always better when we come together--as parents, children, families, and adult adoptees. Connect with mentors, peers, and special guests at Domino Camp as we find Safety in Connection!

Location:

FAQ About Maple Grove

Directions to Maple Grove

While there are 3 ways to access the property, we only recommend one access - Please use HW 34 at mile marker 29. Whatever maps app you use (Google Maps, Apple Maps, etc), please assure that the directions keep you on highway 34 and NOT highway 36 (leading to a high clearance non-maintained dirt road).

At HW 34, mile marker 29, you will turn right pass the mailboxes and a second quick right to head downriver on a dirt road for roughly 3 miles. Watch for "Domino" signs marking the way.
