About this event

Brick x Mortar Social Club (as seen on the Golden Bachlor) will be hosting our third in-person volunteer training session the evening of May 1st. Training will start around 5:30 with volunteers being invited to arrive a bit earlier than that if they'd like.

Brick x Mortar is a beautiful co-working/social club space in downtown Minneapolis and was one of our venues last year in 2023 and is returning as one again in 2024, as it's a bit smaller than some of our other training venues sign ups will be limited to 75 people. The entrance to Brick x Mortar is also located toward the back of the building which attendees will want to note as well! As with our other trainings, this should run about an hour to an hour and a half so we should be down by 7pm at the latest. It's recommended to park in "Ramp C", there is a map below showing the immediate area around the building and the best ways to get to the space.

Please feel free to reach out to our Public Engagement Coordinator, Leighton Sundberg at leighton@rethos.org if you have any questions, comments, or concerns prior to the training! Thank you and we look forward to you joining us on May 1st!

There is not parking available at the venue, however, there is street parking available downtown as well as parking within a block or so at "Ramp C" shown on a map attached to the description of this volunteer training.

What time should I arrive?

What does the training consist of?

We'll be running through event details, expectations of volunteers, different frequently encountered scenarios, and basically just running through the weekend and what you can expect as a Doors Open Volunteer!

Rethos’ mission is to implement New Preservation. New Preservation means the preservation, protection, and promotion of buildings and places that are historic, important, or cherished by a community for the stories associated with them, the architects who designed them and the style which they were built, or the people who worked and lived in them. New Preservation means telling the stories of everyone and of every space from the modest Main Street to the grandest mansion, from those just decades old to others that have stood the test of time. New Preservation by Rethos is historic preservation in the broadest sense: historic registered buildings, deconstruction, DIY education to repair instead of replace, repurposing buildings, Minnesota Main Streets, heritage tourism, and furthering state legislation not just for those that historic preservation has always served but also for those it, in the past, has neglected. This is New Preservation.
