About this event

Direct support professionals, or DSPs, require special certification to administer most medications and treatments.

Category 2 recertification allows personnel to continue to administer medications through a Gastrostomy or Jejunostomy (G/J) tube if the DSP has been delegated to do so by a nurse.

This is a live, virtual event through Microsoft Teams. A unique link will be provided once registration is completed and will be available on the event page. Participants will need to access the course prior to the beginning of the class via a laptop, computer or large-screened tablet. No cell phones will be permitted to access the course.

We ask that participants have supplies to perform relavent skills checks virtually.

To be eligible to participate in the course and be eligible for recertification, participants must have a Category 1 and 2 Certifications that are not over 60 days expired and meet the following requirements:

  1. Be employed by a certified DD Agency or be a certified DODD Independent Provider.
  2. Be at least 18 years old.
  3. Have obtained a High School Diploma or GED.
  4. Have the ability to read, write and understand English at a level that is sufficient to pass the course.
  5. Meets the criteria for background and registry checks in compliance with OAC 5123:2-2-02.
  6. This application is submitted by certified DD Agency or certified DODD Independent Provider (IP’s will submit application along with High School Diploma/GED documentation), which will be verified by the RN Trainer.


  • If the class needs to be cancelled by the instructor, you will be contacted based on the contact information provided on your application. A notification will be sent via email regarding class make-up dates.
  • If you need to cancel or change your reservation, please contact us at 740-507-5384. You cannot send someone else in another individual's place. Any changes or cancellations must be requested to the instructor 2 business days before the start of the class.
  • Applications are reviewed once completed and signed applications are received. If it is determined that you are not eligible for the class due to not meeting requirements, expired certification greater than 60 days or permanent revocation of a certification, no ticket will be refunded.
  • Refunds will not be provided to those who do not attend the class without following the above policy.
  • ONI reserves the right to deny entrance to participants who arrive late.
