An afternoon of community archiving and legacy planning with DSC and BBA at the Detroit Public Library

Join us for a special collaborative event between Black Bottom Archives and Detroit Sound Conservancy, where we will delve into the art and importance of legacy planning and community archiving. Attendees will learn best practices, discuss challenges and opportunities of doing preservation work, and get guidance and time to process your collection materials. We hope this workshop inspires and supports the Detroit community with preserving their stories and contributing to building a more holistic narrative of the mosaic of Detroit history. Participants are encouraged to bring in their own collection items to work with, and please limit your items - such as photos, documents, and small 3D objects - to an amount that will fit into a tote bag.
