Scandinavia House was created by the American-Scandinavian Foundation to promote the artistic and intellectual influence of the Nordic countries. As the leading center for Nordic culture in the United States, Scandinavia House offers enriching programs that illustrate and illuminate the culture and life of the Nordic countries. The diverse programs include exhibitions, film series, concerts and other performances, readings, lectures, language courses, and activities for kids and families.

<H3>Love and Fear (World Premiere)</H3>

<P>Thora, documentary director and main character, is filming her trembling love life with Sebastian during their holiday trip to a cottage by the sea. She investigates her fear of losing, and her inability to trust the long term perspective of their relationship. The strangely staged documentary is a poetic and intimate insight in a love relationship with visual fragments of early memories. She is confronted with the reality of a real relationship, where you have to to let go, and trust.</P>
<H3>A Home in Memory (US Premiere)</H3>

<P>A home in Memory' shows an almost 300 m2 apartment in the very centre of Helsinki and how it is being emptied, picture by picture. Visually, the film consists of still photos only. On the sound track we hear two sisters discussing, the sounds of the apartment and the surroundings. The siblings are not shown in the photos, we can only hear them. It is as if what we see is in the past but what we hear in the present.</P>

<P>Two men are hiding behind a fence at a border checkpoint. They have just started their escape from oppression and persecution of homosexuals in their home country. Only one of them will arrive in Sweden. </P>

<P>Directed b Néha Hirve (Sweden/Norway)</P>
<P>A portrait of Per, who lives on the streets in Norwegian capital Oslo. The only time that per finds solace from his failures in life is when he's in the depths of heroin. He wants to escape the endless cycle of addiction, but is mere human will strong enough?</P>
