Live Artist Exhibition. Unveiling of Farmer the Rigger by Zulu. BBQ & Beverages by Redwood Empire. Live Music. Family Friendly. Free Event.
The inaugural event features a live painting exhibition from Bay Area artists including Jesse Hernandez (aka Urban Aztec), Brian Arriaga and Felicia Galbadon and others who will create work in real time throughout the evening. Attendees will also get an up-close look at Farmer the Rigger, a 20-foot, 9,000-pound sculpture by artist Zulu Heru, and a chance to meet Heru himself. The piece, an Afrocentric mask sculpture built from salvaged materials, honors blue-collar trades and craftsmanship — themes drawn from Heru's own work as a crane operator. It stands in the Historic Core, overlooking one of the oldest dry docks on the West Coast.
The evening also includes live music from Shawn Thwaites and food and drinks from Redwood Empire Whiskey Bar.
