Overview

Construct a worm compost bin (vermicompost) or a fermented compost bin (bokashi) with the help of Master Gardeners.

Master Gardeners will provide materials and instruction on creating both vermicomposting and fermented compost set ups.

Vermicompost: The use of "red wiggler" worms to feed organic kitchen scraps to in order to create soil ammendments. Does NOT allow meat products, dairy, processed foods, or citrus. "Vermi" refers to worms.

Fermented Compost/Bokashi: The use of essential micro-organisms to pickle/ferment organic kitchen scraps into soil ammendments. DOES allow bones, meat, dairy, processed foods, & citrus which other compost methods do not. "Bokashi" refers to the method's Japanese origin.


Both are low cost, low maintenance home compost set ups. Free! Pre-registration required as supplies are limited. If all reserved spots are filled, you are still free to join us to learn about these methods, but you will NOT be provided materials to build one.
