New York , NY 10001 Dissonances on view from February 16th to February 27th, 2025GALLERY HOURS:Wednesday 3-7 PM,Thursday 3-8PMFriday 3-7PMSaturday 1-6PMThe video project "Dissonances" was born out of the discovery of the video archives of Antanas Liutkus, Karolina Paliulis and Petras Klimas. Stories, photographs, artefacts, moving images and memories dictated both the name and the form of this project. They are like small islands of memory. Together with Igne Narbutaite, creating sound and moving images, Ausra Lukosiuniene started exploring the space for this project. It had to be a home, adapted for an exhibition space, where a cup of tea, a conversation, cinema, texts and smell could all fit. "What is important for me in film is the connection between the past and the present," says Aušra." The moving images connect our moment of existence with the rhythm of our senses“. About the artist Aušra Lukošiūnienė's work explores the theme of the transformed present. Having worked for many years in the fields of television, theatre and design, Aušra looks at the moving image through the prism of emotional memory. Currently, she finished short documentary "Dark Matter " and the production of the film Re/Lost Worlds is underway, installation Dissonances is moving from Europe to the USA. About SLA Art SpaceSLA Art Space, a multi-purpose events venue, established in 2014 by the Lithuanian Alliance of America, a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit organization.  SLA Art Space is dedicated to creating and offering a wide range of cultural events including live performances, film screenings, panel discussions, and gallery exhibitions that explore the evolving diversity and richness of Lithuanian culture. SLA Art Space strives to strengthen the identity and community of individuals of Lithuanian descent by generating new ideas and promoting cross-cultural dialogues through partnerships and cultural projects that provide mutual value and new perspectives,  inviting audiences of all ages and backgrounds to engage and share  culture and art.
