Developmental trauma survivors will often develop dissociative parts of themselves that manage the on-slaught of trauma that is happening during their childhoods. Whether someone is diagnosed with C-PTSD (Complex Trauma) or DID (Dissocative Identity Disorder), most complex trauma survivors will need help processing the memories of trauma and abuse that each part is holding for them as the ultimate form of self-protection in childhood.

Survivors develop a complex inner world to manage the terror, stress, and neglect that they are experiencing. These inner worlds are filled with parts that are unique, creative and complicated. Ultimately, without being discovered, acknowledged and journeyed with for some time, parts will not be able to process and release these experiences. The therapist must also be skilled at creating safety, pacing memory work, and understanding how dissociation affects memory storage and processing.

In this workshop on dissociative parts and memory work, Tovah will:

  1. Explore the importance of client centered memory work for integration and trauma processing
  2. Guide participants through several examples of how to safely (with permission) access, engage, and work with part's traumatic memories for the ultimate goal of resolution and healing
  3. Use case examples and self parts work to integrate material
