This is a drop-in friendly event, please come for any portion of the event that you can. Refreshments will be served throughout the event. There will be instruction on editing after the panel with <a href="http://afrocrowd.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">AfroCrowd</a>'s Alice Backer &amp; Sherry Antoine, and Merrilee Proffitt, author of "<a href="https://www.oclc.org/research/people/proffitt-merrilee.html" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Leveraging Wikipedia: Connecting Communities of Knowledge</a>." Beginners welcome! We will be editing pre-selected pages as a group after our panel event. We will be live streaming the event on the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/culibraries/posts/10156718273306886" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Columbia University Library Facebook page</a>.

Background: Wikipedia has become a reference website despite the fact that it is not a formally published resource that is paid for and edited in traditional ways. It is openly editable and updated constantly, exemplifying the phrase, “work in progress.” The good parts: anyone can add knowledge which dismantles the elitism of our cultural biases. There are more pages created every day written by people all over the world.
 But what are the subjects off these pages? 
Who is writing them? 
From whose perspective? 
And why?
 Wikipedia has an inclusivity and privilege problem. Let's edit.
