Wake County's job growth has surged in information technology areas, including programming, networking, and cybersecurity. As a result, employers have unfilled positions because candidates are not available. Wake Technical Community College's Non-Credit Computer Education Department will provide accelerated training to address the industry skills gap and expand the hiring pool by helping students gain the necessary workforce skills.
Businesses are looking for job candidates to fill vacant positions in response to evolving customer needs, competition, and market conditions. Wake Tech offers IT training that can lead to high growth, good-paying job opportunities while simultaneously helping employers fill vacant information technology positions.

Scholarships will be based on WCE Scholarship Criteria as well as performance on a technical assessment at https://www.waketech.edu/programs-courses/non-credit/enhance-your-career/career-pathways/financial-resources/scholarship. The scholarship will support up to 40 students in the first offering.
