About this event

  • 2 hours

The Bay Area Evolving Ground local group meets regularly at The Alembic to meditate together and explore contemporary Vajrayana. We meet and greet, then start with a short introduction to opening awareness meditation. We sit for 20 minutes, take a break, practice some slow standing meditations together, take a break, and then sit for another 20 minutes. We end with questions and discussion.

Opening awareness is a seated meditation leading to vividness and spacious clarity. It is Evolving Ground’s foundational meditation and is a contemporary version of the Dzogchen practice of shi-ne (shamatha in Sanskrit).

The movements come from the Sky Realm Series (Nam'khor in Tibetan). These are Dzogchen long-de practices unique to Evolving Ground. They look and feel quite similar to Qi Gong, though they operate on a different principle: discovery of the nonduality of clarity and bliss, through the experience of “tsal”—embodied awareness as non-ordinary sensation.

Attendees need no prior experience. There will be plenty of space for questions, reflections, and group exploration of the practices.

This meetup is free to attend.

Evolving Ground is a global community exploring a transformational path of passionate involvement with the world. Our life-affirming approach empowers creative, effective individuals: people who live with courage, kindness, and grace.
