NOTE: This is a DISCOUNTED TOUR since it WILL NOT be optimal viewing of the bioluminescence. There will be significant moonlight on the water which will reduce the brightness. You will see it and can play in it but IT WILL GLOW LESS BRIGHT than nights without a moon!
We consider this an intermediate paddle since it takes place at night and is approximately 3 miles long. You really should have paddle experience with a kayak or paddleboard to join this tour as we do not have time to offer on water lessons before launching. Tours launch from the Seminole Rest Historic Site, 207 River Road, Oak Hill. Tickets are limited so don't hesitate to sign up. There will be significant light pollution but this is a great location to view the bioluminescence especially if you are nervous about paddling at night or if you want to experience it with your kids.
If you have your own vessel and equipment you are welcome to join us at no fee. Please select a BYOB ticket to let us know you will be attending. Tips are appreciated but not expected.
Our Inner Compass Eco Adventures guests will set out on paddle boards or kayaks at the scheduled launch time. Please be on site no later than 45 minutes prior to our departure for a safety briefing and instructions.
Since this is a night paddle, we do not have time to give on water lessons to those who have not paddleboarded before.
We will begin our paddle adventure as darkness sets in and the bioluminescence begins to illuminate. We will paddle around a few islands in the shallow water and chase the jumping mullet, darting fish, and ghostly larger fish under the surface until our tour ends back at our launch site.
We highly recommend taking in this adventure on one of our paddle boards. They are sturdy and give you an amazing vantage point for the bioluminescent glow around you. You can sit if you like and the boards make it easy to put your hands in the water to experience the sparkles.
Your tour guides will have everything ready when you arrive and will load all the equipment when you're finished. All you have to do is show up and enjoy the evening.
Age: 8 and up can attend but your child must be age 12 and strong and big enough to paddle their own board due to the distance we will be paddling. Otherwise they will need to ride on a board or kayak with you.
Please bring any snacks and non alcoholic drinks with you. All boards have bungees to secure personal items.
