UT Southwestern and Goodwill will discuss best practices for recruting and interviewing persons of all abilities.

Presenters:

Kamala Kannan serves Goodwill as Vice President of Workforce Development. The program provides intensive, holistic services through job coaching, occupational skills training, job placement, retention, and case management. She leads a staff of 24 and is a member of the employAbility board, DART Paratransit Advisory Group, United Way Financial Impact Summit, and the Family Financial Center Initiative

Nikki Buford is the Lewisville Job Connection Manager for Goodwill Industries of Dallas. She has 10 years of staffing and recruiting experience including helping persons with disabilities in all aspects of the workforce. Her bachelor’s degree is in Psychology from The University of Texas at Arlington, and she holds Vocational Rehabilitation certifications from the University of North Texas in Supported Employment, Job Coaching, and Job Placement. Previously Nikki worked has worked for TWC piloting specialty employment programs and supporting candidates with a variety of barriers reach their potential. During her 5 years with Goodwill, she has assisted in the placement of over 200 job seekers each year in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.

Dewotta Gossett works at UT Southwestern as a Talent Acquisition Partner in Human Resources and has been with UT Southwestern for 11 years. She holds a Master’s degree in HR Business Management and is working to complete her Doctoral degree in Leadership and Organizational Change. Dewotta serves on the Bridges from School to Work Advisory Board and has worked with LaunchAbility, a training program for those with disabilities. She enjoys bowling, singing and traveling. One interesting fact about her is that she has lived in Okinawa Japan and Anchorage Alaska.

Parking is free.

Accessible parking is located on the ground floor of the parking garage.

Look for the 1 Destiny Way parking garage which is located on the West side of Destiny Way.

There is a covered walkway that leads from the middle of the garage to the 1 Destiney Way lobby. Please let the front desk know that you are here for the Disability:IN North Texas meeting.
