Join Directors Amy Gilman & Kacie Lucchini Butcher in dialogue around UW–Madison’s Public History Project.

Chazen Museum of Art Director, Amy Gilman, will join Public History Project Director, Kacie Lucchini Butcher, in discussion around the UW–Madison Public History Project and the work that went into creating the exhibition, Sifting &amp; Reckoning: UW–Madison’s History of Exclusion and Resistance. This project was “a multi-year effort to uncover and give voice to those who experienced and challenged exclusion on campus.&quot;This conversation will occur in the Chazen Museum of Art Auditorium from 6:00 - 7:00 pm. Guests who are unable to attend in person will be able to stream this event live on the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/ChazenArtUW" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Chazen Museum of Art Facebook page</a>.Pre-registration is strongly encouraged for in-person attendance.The University of Wisconsin–Madison’s <a href="https://publichistoryproject.wisc.edu/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Public History Project</a> is a multi-year effort to uncover and give voice to those who experienced, challenged and overcame prejudice on campus.The exhibition, <a href="https://chazen.wisc.edu/exhibitions/sifting-reckoning-uw-madisons-history-of-exclusion-and-resistance/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Sifting &amp; Reckoning: UW–Madison’s History of Exclusion and Resistance</a>, brings to light stories of struggle and perseverance. Through archival objects, photographs, and oral histories the exhibit will illuminate under-recognized histories in the university’s past. Visitors will meet the university’s first students of color, explore early struggles for equality in social organizations, housing, and athletics, and learn about protest movements on campus.This exhibition is on display in the Rowland Gallery until December 23, 2022.
