Direct Socket TF
Gain hands on experience in Direct Socket TF fabrication, liner selection, suspension options, alignment and troubleshooting
Course Overview
Discover a different approach to transfemoral socket fabrication with this immersive, two day Össur Academy course, designed to give prosthetic clinicians the knowledge, practical skills and confidence to work with the Direct Socket TF System.
Unlike traditional socket fabrication methods, Direct Socket TF enables clinicians to fabricate a socket directly onto the user's residual limb, with the process taking as little as two hours. Using a combination of carefully selected liners, a silicone brim and specialised fibre braids, this innovative technique offers an alternative approach to socket fabrication and fitting.
What to Expect
Direct Socket TF Technology & Patient Selection
Explore the Direct Socket TF system, its fabrication process and key clinical considerations. Learn how to identify suitable patient candidates and understand the benefits and applications of this technique.
Liner Selection & Suspension Options
Develop your understanding of appropriate liner sizing and selection, alongside compatible suspension systems, including Seal-In, Unity® Elevated Vacuum and locking suspension.
Hands On Socket Fabrication & Fitting
Put theory into practice with guided fabrication sessions, creating Direct Socket TF sockets using the specialised materials and techniques. Gain practical experience fitting sockets on patient models, with support from experienced clinical specialists.
Alignment & Troubleshooting
Explore transfemoral alignment principles, complementary components and common fitting challenges, with practical guidance on troubleshooting and optimising socket fit and function.
What You'll Take Away
By the end of this two day course, you'll have developed the knowledge and practical skills to:
• Identify suitable candidates for Direct Socket TF.
• Select appropriate liners, suspension systems and complementary components.
• Complete a supported Direct Socket TF fabrication and fitting.
• Apply transfemoral alignment principles.
