Arapaho United Methodist Church is a casual, progressive Christian community just North of Dallas in Richardson, TX at 1400 W. Arapaho Rd., Richardson, TX 75080 (Greater-Dallas area). Many of our members live in Richardson, Far North Dallas, Dallas, Plano, Carrollton, Garland, and Allen.We are intentional about our faith development: we ask questions, develop deep and lasting friendships, and work together to make a positive difference in our community.

The Arapaho United Methodist Church Dinner & Documentary Series invites you to watch "RBG" with us and be a part of a panel discussion on the evolving roles of women in faith, in culture and in the workplace. 
A light dinner will be served and we would appreciate a $7.00 per person donation to help us offset cost of the food. 
 
ABOUT THE DOCUMENTARY
This Academy Award-nominated documentary chronicles the career of U.S. Supreme Court Justice <A HREF="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruth_Bader_Ginsburg" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Ruth Bader Ginsburg</A>, which spans several decades, and how she developed a legal legacy while becoming a pop culture icon. The film is a biographical depiction of Ginsburg from her birth in <A HREF="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brooklyn" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Brooklyn</A>, <A HREF="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_(state)" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">New York</A>, her college education and subsequent career as a law professor, her appointment to the federal judiciary by President <A HREF="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Presidency_of_Jimmy_Carter" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Jimmy Carter</A>, and eventual appointment to the Supreme Court by President <A HREF="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Presidency_of_Bill_Clinton" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Bill Clinton</A>.
The film includes interviews with feminist icon <A HREF="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gloria_Steinem" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Gloria Steinem</A> and <A HREF="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Public_Radio" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">NPR</A>'s <A HREF="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nina_Totenberg" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Nina Totenberg</A> on Ginsburg's trailblazing career focused on women's rights. Among the landmark cases brought before the Supreme Court, the <A HREF="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_v._Virginia" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">1996 decision</A> that allowed female cadets to enroll at the previously all-male <A HREF="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virginia_Military_Institute" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Virginia Military Institute</A> (VMI) is discussed at length. Several female VMI graduates explain why the decision was important — for them personally, and in the larger struggle for women's rights.
