G&O Family Cyclery is a cargo and family bike-focused shop, the first of its kind in Seattle. Seattle’s cargo bike market is growing swiftly. This makes sense, Seattle’s biking community is expanding to include folks who are previously interested, but concerned about cycling. These potential new commuters, potential car-replacers, and potential lifestyle cyclists have adult concerns: errands, kids, jobs. They need bikes that are fun to ride, not too heavy and able to lift and haul their kids, their gear, their groceries. They need to have a place to purchase and service these bikes that will treat them with respect and interest for their newness to cycling, not with derision for not already being “in the club.” At G&O, we understand that and we can offer that. We are parents, nerds, daily cargo bike riders and sweethearts. Our shop is lovely, inviting and comforting. Come by!

Gillies and Oil Family Cyclery

Do you have some feelings about the election of President Trump? Would you like to sit with some friends and some friendly strangers and talk about your fears, your theories and your strategies for resistance and survival?
After Tuesday's terrifying election results, the Dinner and Bikes presenters and your friends at G&O Family Cyclery decided to make the upcoming event "Pay What You Can," and to change the format of the event to include a chance for some community building around the election of Donald J Trump to the Presidency of the UNited States.
How can we protect our neighbohoods and communities from Trump? How can our bicycles and transportation options be employed in the service to those most vulnerable to this wave of xenophobia and bigotted aggression? What is our role, as bicycle advocates, in resisting racism and mysogyny and homophobia, in the face of President Trump? How do we ride on, from here?
Please join us on November 14th from 8pm to 11pm for a traveling road show of vegan food and bicycle inspiration. Joshua Ploeg will delight with a vegan and gluten free buffet dinner. Elly Blue and Joe Biel will co-present films, a talk, and slides about Groundswell movements, incidences where people demanded and implemented better neighborhood and bicycling conditions.
The event is followed with a book signing and time for questions, discussion of local issues, and perusing the traveling bookstore.
Admission is pay what you can, but reservations are strongly requested. Please book tickets, so we know how much food to provide.
