During a delightful evening event, the author will offer insights into his new work and engage the audience in conversation. Baltimore’s own <a href="https://www.theivybookshop.com" title="https://www.theivybookshop.com" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Ivy Books</a> will be on hand to facilitate purchases of Good Soil which Mr. Chu will be available to sign. <h3>About Good Soil </h3>In his late thirties, Jeff Chu left his job as a magazine writer and found himself at Princeton Theological Seminary’s “Farminary”—a twenty-one-acre working farm where students learn to cultivate the earth while examining life’s biggest questions. Now, he unpacks what he learned about creating “good soil,” both literally and figuratively, drawing lessons from the rhythms of growth, decay, and regeneration that define life on the land.Good Soil helps readers connect to the land and to one another at a time when we seem drawn most to the phones in our hands. <h3>About Jeff Chu</h3> Jeff Chu is an award-winning journalist and editor-at-large at Travel+Leisure. He is the author of Does Jesus Really Love Me? and the co-author, with the late Rachel Held Evans, of the New York Times bestseller Wholehearted Faith. Chu is a former Time staff writer and Fast Company editor whose work has also appeared in The New York Times Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, and Modern Farmer. In his weekly newsletter, “Notes of a Make-Believe Farmer,” Chu writes about spirituality, gardening, food, travel, and culture. He lives with his husband, Tristan, in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

<h3>About the venue</h3>The Gallery at Emmanuel is located in the heart of Baltimore's historic Mt. Vernon neighborhood, conveniently located on the lower level of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, whose stone tower at the corner of Cathedral and W. Read Streets rises as a beacon of welcome. The Gallery is a lively space perfect for artist or author events and is easily accessible via the ramped entrance at 2 West Read Street.The Emmanuel building is fully accessible with an elevator and ADA compliant ramp entrances and restroom facilities.

<h3>Parking and Transportation</h3>Emmanuel Church is located at 811 Cathedral Street in Baltimore, on the corner of Cathedral &amp; W. Read Streets in the Mt. Vernon neighborhood.Ample street parking, both free and metered, is available in historic Mt. Vernon. After 6:00 p.m. on weekdays, and all day on Sundays, many meters do not require payment and most residential restrictions are lifted. Please be sure to consult signage carefully.However, we strongly encourage our patrons to avoid the stress of searching for street parking, and to make a parking plan before arriving into our residential neighborhood.
