Dig into Geodes...June 22
Crack your own geode and see the magic inside!
Let's Dig into Geodes and see what's inside!
10am-1pm
Join us at the Idaho Museum of Mining and Geology (IMMG), next to the Old Pen, for a fun time geode-cracking, an easy 40-minute geology-hike on the nearby hillside and a Museum visit. Geode-cracking takes place from 10am-1pm outside under shade canopies on the grass of the historic Women’s Ward. Hikes are scheduled for 11am and again at Noon.
Admission:
Adult Non-members of the IMMG—$10
Children —$5
Every registered child receives one small geode at no cost
Adult IMMG Members & their children—Free admission
This fun event is also a fundraiser for the IMMG.
All adults (members too) who wish to crack a geode, and children who would like a second geode, will need to pay the recommended donation at the site. We have an exciting selection of geodes of all sizes with different purchase prices.
If you have never seen a geode cracked open with a giant pipe-cutter, you are in for an exciting moment. What Mother Nature has created is truly amazing.
Please register at your preferred time. There are 6 time slots.
Contact operations@idahomuseum.org if you have questions.
Delicious hotdogs will be on sale by Updog Street Food beginning at 11 AM.
This event is supported by a grant from the Idaho Humanities Council!
