About this event

This workshop is an introduction into the world of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for anyone needing a starting point into understanding the basics of DBT for individual and group work. Participants will know the purpose and benefits of various mindfulness skills, brief explanation of Distress tolerance skills, Emotion regulation skills and interpersonal effectiveness. Demonstration of how to successfully implement the use of diary cards and the Behavioral Chain Analysis technique to help clients change ineffective behaviors in a manner that is thoughtful and benevolent.

This workshop can prepare the novice DBT practitioner in deciding if they wish to expand their knowledge in the field of DBT by learning the remaining skill modules: Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation and Interpersonal Effectiveness.

Elaine has over 20 years’ experience in the mental health field working in residential care, Certified Trauma specialist, juvenile justice counseling and outpatient therapy.   Significant work with clients struggling with grief and loss issues, mood & adjustment disorders, PTSD and co-occurring disorders.  Elaine currently has a private practice in Brunswick, GA., facilitating group, individual and family therapy.
