Veterans will need to bring the following documents saved on either a USB or Laptop for the event to get certified (No iPads and cellphones as they are usually too small for the process):
Business & Tax Documents
- IRS EIN letter
- Federal tax returns (last 3 years or business lifespan if shorter)
- Sole proprietorships: personal federal tax returns (last 3 years)
Personal & Veteran Information
- Disabled Veteran resume
- VA Benefit Summary Letter (minimum 10% service-connected disability, dated within 1 year)
Licenses & Permits
- City or county business license
- Other applicable licenses or permits (e.g., CSLB license, seller’s permit)
Ownership & Management
- Signed statement explaining how the disabled veteran manages and controls the business if working more than 30 hours per week or managing another business
- Trust agreement and amendments (if applicable)
Equipment (if applicable)
- Equipment list, bills of sale, titles, and registrations
Legal Entity Documents
Sole Proprietorship
- Fictitious Business Name Statement (if applicable)
Partnership
- Partnership agreement and amendments
- Fictitious Business Name Statement (if applicable)
- Most recent personal federal tax return for each partner
Limited Liability Partnership (LLP)
- LLP registration with the Secretary of State
Limited Liability Company (LLC)
- Articles of Organization
- Statement of Information
- Operating Agreement and amendments
- LLC must be wholly owned by qualified disabled veteran(s)
Corporation
- Articles of Incorporation
- Statement of Information
- Corporate Bylaws and amendments
- Most recent meeting minutes showing election of officers and directors
- Stock Transfer Ledger and stock certificates
