Event description

Description

Toxic chemicals from everyday products are tainting our drinking water. This class of substances, called PFAS, was developed to make non-stick coatings, cosmetics, take-out containers, and more. Today, PFAS have been found in the bloodstreams of fish, wildlife, and humans all across the country.

One town in West Virginia took on a powerful maker of these poisons. Its story has now been made into the documentary “The Devil We Know.” Join us for a free screening of this gripping film to learn how a group of ordinary people held one of the country’s biggest corporations accountable for its toxic pollution.

This event is hosted by Conservation Law Foundation. Panelists include:

  • Sean Mahoney, Executive Vice President, Director of Programs and Director of CLF’s Maine Advocacy Center
  • Jen Duggan, Vice President and Director of CLF Vermont

  • Patrick MacRoy, Deputy Director, Environmental Health Strategy Center

  • Dana Colihan, Maine Community Organizer, Toxics Action Center

Stay after the film for a discussion about how CLF and our partners are fighting to protect Maine and all of New England from these dangerous PFAS chemicals here at home.

Parking

There is ample street parking located near the venue. Please do not park in our neighbors’ parking lots. Those are privately owned lots and when you park there you risk having your car towed at your expense. If you prefer to park off street, there is a parking garage located just 5 minutes away at 181 High Street.
