DeviGirls Yoga - October Workshop

Devi Girls Yoga is a Portland, OR based initiative to create safe space, community & empowerment for middle-school aged young women. Founded by mother, activist and yogini, DeDe Frerichs, Devi Girls offers 4-week yoga & mindfulness workshops, cooking classes, and evolving future experiences in Portland and beyond for young women to discover and nurture their own, true north.Despite the rise in yoga & mindfulness/spiritual practices and classes, a wide gap still exists in serving young people. And in our highly digitized, modern culture, young people too often feel disconnected and as if they don’t belong. Devi Girls exists to inspire young women to belong to themselves first, to belong to their communities and to reconnect with each other and with themselves-- IRL (in real life)!Devi Girls’ signature offering is a 4-week workshop, which occurs at least once a season, each season offering a different theme. Participants can attend once, or come back quarterly to renew their practice, learn new poses, make new friends and unite with old friends. As a parent herself, DeDe understands the need to find quality, transformative, safe places for her children to play, interact and learn outside the school environment.Yoga is the core pillar of Devi Girls’ workshops, literally holding participants up by showing them the strength of their bodies and the power of quieting the mind. There is no competition, no comparison, and lots of room for simply being… something young people today rarely, if ever, get to experience. What makes Devi Girls' offerings all the more unique is the inclusion of journaling, tea talks, fun group activities and other secular mindfulness practices that subtly allow for transformative moments.

Please join us this October for a Yoga + Mindfulness workshop geared toward helping young women connect with themselves and with each other in nourishing and meaningful ways.Back by popular demand is our Ayurvedic cooking class !Details:<ul><li>Sunday, October 20 3-4:30 pm Yoga + Mindfulness </li></ul>Located at the bhakti yoga movement center<ul><li>Sunday, October 27 3-5:30 pm Yoga, Mindfulness + Ayurvedic cooking class </li></ul>Located at the bhakti yoga movement center / cookshopAyurveda is the sister science of Yoga and is practiced quite regularly in India. Ayurveda is a science of life (Ayur = life, Veda = science or knowledge).
