When early childhood professionals embrace meeting children where they are, children become independent learners and reach developmental milestones. Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP) is an approach to teaching grounded in research on how young children develop and learn. We will examine the components of Developmentally Appropriate Practice and reflect on our current practice to enhance the learning environment, expectations, and children’s learning experiences.
