Developing an Effective Response to Intervention System

The Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) is the State Education Agency for the District of Columbia charged with raising the quality of education for all DC residents. OSSE serves as the District’s liaison to the U.S. Department of Education and works closely with the District’s traditional and public charter schools to achieve its key functions.

Response to Intervention (RtI) is a school-based, multi-level prevention system with identification and intervention for students at academic or behavioral risk. OSSE’s Division of Teaching & Learning will hold a training for school-based leaders on developing and improving school RtI systems. This training will focus on:

<LI>Response to Intervention key concepts;</LI>
<LI>Planning professional development;</LI>
<LI>Screening and progress monitoring; and</LI>
<LI>Interventions.</LI>
</UL>
This training is open to school-based leaders and educators serving students in public schools and public charter schools in the District of Columbia.
