Edmonton has a great tech scene with a lot of potential to grow. As a developer, employer, educator, or community member improving the quality, visibility, and size of Edmonton's developer community benefits us all and now is your chance! Come out, pitch a project to improve the Edmonton developer scene, and then get involved now!How often have you heard that there's nothing happening in Edmonton or that you need to move away to find work with the tech you want or to find employees with the skills you need? If you're reading this then you know that's not true, and Dev Edmonton is here to do something about it.Though we've been running an awesome Slack community (500+ members!), YouTube channel, and been helping with meetups for the last year we want to do much more! From mentoring, project matchmaking, and diversity resources there is so much opportunity. To seize it we need the community to step up and get involved by identifying the low hanging fruit and high impact projects that we can all come together to build over the next year.DevelopEd provides a unique face-to-face venue to kick start new sustainable projects throughout the rest of the year. The success of the event will be measured in terms of what was accomplished, not what was planned or discussed, so come prepared to roll up your sleeves.Whether you're a developer, employer, meetup organizer, educator, or community ally there's a place for you and your contributions are welcome!Format and AgendaThe format of DevelopEd is simple. We kick things off Friday night with a social and mixer. It's a chance to meet the other attendees, share your hopes and vision for Edmonton's development community, and start building excitement for Saturday! Saturday is the big day! Come out and pitch your ideas, rally a group of excited conspirators, then spend the day getting your project off the ground! We'll gather again at lunch for some fun team building, then get back to it so teams can present their work that evening.
