The new Whitworth Ferguson Planetarium at SUNY Buffalo State brings the wonders of the Universe to the Western New York community through educational programs and entertainment experiences. Our educational programs cover various topics in astronomy and planetary science where you can learn about the night sky or be transported throughout our solar system and beyond! Our laser music experiences are audio visual masterpieces that will dazzle the senses!

Ever wonder what it would be like to fly to Mars? “Destination Mars: The New Frontier” gives audiences a close-up look at the work being done globally to make the dream of getting humans to Mars a reality. Fly through the International Space Station, where astronauts are already living and working in space, and explore the Vehicle Assembly Building at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida. Learn about the rockets and vehicles that will take humans beyond the Moon and, one day, all the way to Mars with narrators who include the first African American woman in space, Dr. Mae Jemison! Watch the trailer for this show here: https://youtu.be/AmOKK4QJxyY Program length is one hour.This program is presented on Friday evenings at 7 pm from February 10 - March 17.Please arrive at least 5 minutes before show time, because late arrivals may not be seated for safety reasons in our darkened planetarium.
