<P>Start a Glyphs font project with renowned type designer <A HREF="https://www.marksimonson.com" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Mark Simonson</A>.</P>

<DIV>Mark Simonson is an independent type designer working out of his home in Saint Paul, Minnesota.<SPAN CLASS="Apple-converted-space"> </SPAN><SPAN>Mark was variously a graphic designer, art director, illustrator, and lettering artist before becoming a full-time type designer in 2005. </SPAN><SPAN>He is probably best known for designing the typeface Proxima Nova. </SPAN></DIV>

<P>Prerequisites</P>
<P>No prior knowledge of type design necessary, some experience with vector graphics useful.</P>
<P>Bring your MacBook with <A HREF="http://updates.glyphsapp.com/latest2.php" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Glyphs 2</A> preinstalled.</P>

<P>You will learn how to:</P>
<UL>
<LI>sketch letters by hand</LI>
<LI>turn your sketches into pristine outlines</LI>
<LI>derive more letters from the drawings</LI>
<LI>apply optical corrections</LI>
<LI>balance the sidebearings of your letters</LI>
<LI>kerning letter pairs</LI>
<LI>construct diacritics</LI>
<LI>construct uppercase letters</LI>
<LI>test and improve your design</LI>
</UL>
<P>… and many more details of the type design process. Glyphs team member Rainer Erich Scheichelbauer will assist Mark.</P>
<P><EM>Attendees receive a time-limited Glyphs license for free, and can purchase a full, unlimited personal license of the software at a discount.</EM></P>
