Aperçu

See the debut of WaterWork, an immersive artwork on the historic Seaholm Intake Facility Building, with WaterWork curators and artists.

WaterWork

Design Austin and The Trail Conservancy will debut WaterWork, an immersive artwork projected on the historic Seaholm Intake Facility Building produced by local artists.WaterWork is the first use of Seaholm Intake as a large-scale exterior canvas.

This special edition of the Design Austin Cruise features WaterWork curators and artists discussing the project and has the best seats on the lake for this first-time event.

The colossal projection celebrates the many talents of Austin’s creative community. Design Austin has asked artists and designers to create short videos exploring the coexistence of the city with nature mapped to the building’s Art Deco façade. WaterWork will transform this iconic building into a dynamic canvas of art, light, and motion.

Please arrive early, the boats will begin boarding at 7:00 and will depart the dock at 7:30! Seats are FCFS, and top deck is not guaranteed. Beer, wine, and light snacks will be available on board. Bring a friend (or two) and make a night of it!

Additional Note

Our goal is to make design accessible to all. If paying the standard rate for tickets makes this tour out of reach for you to attend, we encourage audiences to view the installation from several vantage points: on land from the Pfluger Bridge or the Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail; and on the water from kayaks, paddleboards, and other watercraft.
