Description

Led by researchers Edward P. Clapp and Andrea Sachdeva, this two-day interactive workshop session will begin with a full-day introduction to the framework for maker-centered learning developed by the Agency by Design research project at Harvard Graduate School of Education’s Project Zero.

Moving “Making” Beyond STEM: Exploring Dispositions, Cultural Participation, and Systems Literacy through Design and Maker-Centered Learning

Educational initiatives that emphasize making, engineering, and tinkering are becomingincreasingly popular in K-12 education. But what is truly worthwhile about design and maker-centered learning?

Led by researchers Edward P. Clapp and Andrea Sachdeva, this two-day interactive workshop session will begin with a full-day introduction to the framework for maker-centered learning developed by the Agency by Design research project at Harvard Graduate School of Education’s Project Zero.

This exploration will lead into a second day, in which attendees will participate in a series ofhands-on activities designed to explore systems thinking and the concept of participatory creativity. Connections between these ideas and participants’ home teaching and learning environments will be made throughout both workshop days.
