We at Pete’s are thrilled to celebrate the most exciting 90 seconds of the year with a Derby Day bash worthy of a debutante’s dowry. The amusements on hand will honor the demands of tradition, and feature:• The Millinery Parade, in which patrons titillate the masses with foolish hats, vying for the Rabbinical favor of our judge, who will administer capital rewards! 5pm sharp! • Uncle Nik’s Derby Taco Experience, marrying the charms of Cinco de Mayo with the foolishness of Derby Day, serving up the best bluegrass blue-plate special this side of Oaxaca! • Pete’s Paddock, being a pasture of facts and figures, where you may improve your horse-sense.• The Hooker’s Handicap, a shameful monument to the Host’s ego, rendered in purple prose.• The beloved Idiot Stakes, where a dollar makes a winner of a loser.• ...and, of course, Parimutuel Pastimes such as to spit in the face of Death himself. The festivities get underway SATURDAY, MAY 7, 3PM at PETE’S CANDY STORE (709 Lorimer, Williamsburg) and will last until the last horse crosses the finish line. Dress like you goddamn mean it!BRING YOUR GUMPTION AND GREENBACKS!
